Funky Search results when searching the Hyper-V Forum RRS feed

  • Question

  • Howdy all,

When I try to search the Hyper-V forum using the search box to the right of the 'Hyper-V' forum where it has 'Search Hyper-V Forum' I am seeing some strange results.

If I search for 'Beta' (478 Results) I get a heap of results that include "Windows Defender Beta 2" listed in the results and have had to start searching the forum with 'Beta -"Windows Defender"' to eliminate the 'false positives' I only get 8 results returned during search.

Anyone else see this weird behavior and or some other workarounds?

I just checked out the source code of the page and a hidden table with 'popular downloads' is included and this no doubt is the culprit, can we get this fixed/removed/modified as searching in particular the Hyper-V forum for the term 'Beta' should be quite an acceptable search term as we all know how long Hyper-V was in Beta.

    <td valign="top"><h4>Popular Downloads</h4><div class="list"><div class="listitem"><href=";displaylang=en">Windows Defender Beta 2</a></div><div class="listitem"><href=";freetext=directx&amp;DisplayLang=en">DirectX End-User Runtime</a></div><div class="listitem"><href="">More popular downloads</a></div></div></td></tr></table

  • Use this Google query: beta

  • Yes Google, Yahoo, MSN etc with the SITE: operator will get some other results though we should still be able to actually use the 'inline' search on social.technet/msdn/expression etc for accurate inline searching.
