  • Question

  • The issue that I have is the following.

    I back up to an external hard drive the copacity is 500G
    I have three pc's backing up to this external hard drive

    These are the back up amounts for each of the three pc's

    First pc--     12.6 Gigabytes
    Second pc---40 Megabites
    Third pc ---- 421 Gigabytes



    The problem is ,when I checked the available space on the external hard drive, it list only 31.4 G are remaining in free space.

    This would be, based on the above information be about right. ,however the hard drive size of the third pc is is only 130 Gigabites in total and there are 50 Gigabites remaining.

    All pc's settings for back ups are set for , only backup new files that have changed (express backup)

    How do I correct this .

  • How long have backups been created on the external drive for your 3 PCs? it is entirely possible that the drive is filling over time based on changed files in the PC backups. Additionally, if you ever reinstalled OneCare, it contains another backup for that PC.
    My suggestion is to format the external drive and then reset your backup plan - that is, reconfigure it to start again with a blank slate.
