Microsoft Office 2007 validation Not working

I bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 about 2 days ago and I installed it to my computer and everything worked, since then the memory was wiped unexpectedly and now when i try putting in my Validation code again it isnt working, ive tried several times reviewing it is correct each time but it still dows not work.

I am making the assumption that "memory was wiped" means that you did a manufacturer's recovery on your HP computer that put your computer back to "out of the box" condition.
Was the Office Home and Student 2007 you purchased in a clear plastic pivoting tray retail package, or was it in another type of package? If another type, please explain.
