Moving SSRS instance

Question
-
I currently have CRM 2011 with SQL and SSRS on same instance. We would like to use a new SSRS server. What all is necessary to reconfigure with new SSRS? Is it just running the reporting extensions install on the new server?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
It needs to be done carefully.
After you have your new SSRS server, yes you need to run the reporting extensions on the new machine. Also update it with the latest CRM roll up you have.
In the final step you will have to change all organisations to point to the changed SSRS server. Go to your deployment manager. Click on each organisations and disable. Then edit the organisations and change their reporting server URL. Click on next buttons and when done enable these organisations.
I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

How about the report folders that were created as part of the initial CRM server install? DO those need to be moved?
Also, why does the new SSRS need to have the latest CRM rollup installed? I'm not quite clear on this point.
With reading the documentation I found, I also understood that it would take installing Reporting Extensions on new SSRS and editing the organization in deployment manager. Are you saying that an install other than Reporting extensions needs to be done on the SSRS?
Many thanks,.

Ashish,
A follow up...does it make a difference which order I do it in? First update URL in deployment manager or first run reporting extensions setup?

Hi,
It shouldn't make a difference. First update your URL and then run reporting extensions setup. Please try that way.

Unfortunately, trying to change the URL first came back with an error that reporting extensions were not installed on that SSRS....which they weren't yet.
Trying to run the reporting extensions install came back with the error
ActiveDirectoryRightsValidator.Failure.Groups PrivReportingGroup error running reporting extensions setup.
The setup user is local admin of the server and sysadmin of reporting services.
The setup account was given read/write access on the PrivReportingGroup.
Any ideas?
