Darin - it's XP??
Argg. Yep I made the mistake of not looking at the "Windows OS version" line.I just assumed: Vista Forum = Vista issue.
Ok, PrincessWillaims, disregard the steps I provided, they are for Vista.
Please look at the Sticker on the side or bottom of the PC and tell me what it says (except for the Product key...Do Not post the Product key).
Thank you,

That may explain your confusion! Your sticker would appear to be for Vista Home Basic, rather than XP! - can you confirm that?If that is the case, then your machine is installed with a non-genuine version of Windows Media Center - which means that you have a rather large problem :(Back up your data to an external drive, and reinstall the original OS using the manufacturer's recovery disks - which you should be able to get direct from them.

Your installation is non-genuine.Someone has apparently used a Gateway Recovery disk to install Windows MediaCenter onto your Fujitsu computer, in breach of the license terms. What version of Windows is quoted on the COA sticker on the case?
do NOT post the Key!

I did use a Gateway Recovery Disk because my computer clashed and I didn't have any installation disk when I bought the computer. I didn't know it was in breach of the license terms. It is Windows Vista Home Basic 2005.

Yes it is indeed Vista Home Basic not XP. I did try using the OS after I reinstalled my computer using the Gateway Disk but now I cannot use it. The only disk I have from when I bought the computer is called Drivers and Utilities Fujitsu Siemens? Is this the OS disk? How do I backup my computer to an external drive? I cheked their website but don't know what to install, Please help me. ThanksSaturday, February 5, 2011 11:58 AM

Telephone 1-888-FUJITSU and ask Fujitsu support if they can send you the proper system recovery media designed for your Fujitsu computer.

Carey - you might not have noticed, but the OP would appear to be in the UK, not the US.

There is no such thing as 'Vista Home Basic 2005' - Vista was not released to manufacturing until 2006.That said, if you contact the manufacturer, they should be able to provide the correct et of disks for your machine....http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/support/ (hopefully) will get you where you need to be - use the machine's serial number for a proper location.
