    I know the threaded view used to show a placeholder, unless it was the last item in the hierarchy. So I don't think placeholders always show up. We have bugs to send alerts when something is deleted, I think this might help with some of these confusing ghost posts.

    Ok, that sounds right. I thought I'd see a Delete placeholder or does it only show for the author?
