Windows not genuine...

Question

Hi. A small, irritating problem. My pc most certainly has genuine Windows 7; came pre-loaded with my Sony Vaio desktop pc. Now, suddenly I am receiving this message in the bottom right corner of my display that my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine. I occasionally get a pop-up menu telling me the same thing and how to rectify the problem i.e., buy Windows 7. There are two variables: first, I had a system crash a few weeks ago and had to totally re-build everything using the Sony Viao recovery programs. It worked like a dream (took several hours), Windows 7 (home premium) came back up and everything is running like it was when we bought the machine. Could the re-build have triggered this "not genuine" error message. Second variable: I have turned off several Windows-related services via the "Administrative Tools" (and when I launch that screen I get a big menu telling me my copy of Windows is not genuine). Is it possible that this "windows not genuine" error message is enabled when certain Windows-related are DIS-abled? Do one or more of these disabled services need to keep in touch with starbase Windows in order to validate the OS as genuine? Thanks in advance. =taj=

Please read the sticky "Please Read Before Posting" at the top of this forum and paste your MGADiag report in your reply here. You probably caused it by turning off services, especially the Software Protection service.
