Timezone option in Dynamics appointment form? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way that I can provide Timezone option in Dynamics' appointment form like the option in Outlook's appointment form?

Now, if a user who wants to book a meeting outside of his current timezone, the user has to convert the time on their own and input the time in their current timezone.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The appointment is auto-converted to UTC when it is stored in the DB. So if I put in an appointment in west coast time for a user on the east coast, it will auto-convert for them. However, if you want CRM to behave such that a user on the west coast can input directly in east coast time I can't see any other option than coding an interface. Alternatively do this kind of thing in Outlook where you can display two time zones on the left of the calendar and track them into CRM.

  • An 'int' attribute has the formatting option of timezone. You could add one of these to the form and then run some code to auto-adjust the appointment.

  • Are you suggesting that I use Javascript to adjust the Scheduled Start and Scheduled End fields on every Onload and OnSave event? I can imagine it envolves some crazy javascript to make it 100% correct, since I have to consider daylight saving and retrieving user's current Timezone setting in Dynamics.

I was expecting that Dynamics CRM considered this Timezone issue already. It looks to me that they missed a important point of the appointment functionality.
