I just purchaed an upgrade to make my copy of Windows XP Pro genuine. I have the key and a copy of the paid in full invoice.

What do I do next?

Hi VLF,

You can use the Product Key Update Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/pkuinstructions.aspx) to switch out the old key for the new Genuine key, but if the tool returns any error, you will need to wait for the WGA CD and reinstall Windows using the new Genuine Key.
