How does changing my primary email alias effect my MSDN account? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Microsoft Account is associated with my Hotmail email address, which I've had for many years. I've got a few email aliases in my Microsoft Account. I'd like to take one of them and make it my primary email alias. I suspect that might change how I log into these MSDN forums, post messages, etc. Is that correct?

  • No, it doesn't change a thing with your MSDN profile. Your MSDN / Technet profile is simply associated with and authenticated using your microsoft account, so changing the primary on your microsoft account only affects the email address you use to logon. I changed mine long ago from the mostly worthless passport.com address. If you also want to change the alerts email address then in left pane go to Quick Access\My Settings\Configure Alerts
