The need for better Moderator Admininistration Tools in MSDN Forums

    Question

  • This Person Luck.. has posted 15(?) posts in the VSTO forums of the same question. Deleting all posts is a waste of time by the current method.

When will the moderators be given a better interface to be able to manage the forums?

Different scenario is just moving a thread from C# general to Winforms which happens 5-30 times a day. The steps are from a listing:

    1. Click the post
    2. Click Move
    3. Scroll down the list between 12-15 scrolls to eyeball Winform General.
    4. Select Winform General.
    5. Submit

I don't mind scrolling the list for the offbeat SQL forum, but a majority of the moves done are to WPF or Winforms, or if I could forums.asp.net . Why not give the moderator a quick Move to XXX button specific to the forum?

Since us non-MS people are unpaid resources, moving the item is a loss for us. Its not reported as helpful work to Microsoft and goes unnoticed unless its not done .

I don't mind doing some grunt work, but frankly the overhead of being a moderator using the current system is not conducive and is unwieldy. IMHO

  • I agree that we need a better method in these rare occasions.

However I don't agree with this as a reason

Moderating forums should not be a question of deciding which actions are reported as helpful work to Microsoft.
