Win 7 Activation Problem and Lack of Phone Support RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased the Family Pack (3 licenses) for Windows 7 Home Premium and installed 2 copies on 2 of our family laptops and one on my desktop.  Last week, my hard drive failed on the desktop and I replaced it yesterday and had to reinstall Windows.  My activation failed due to Code 0xC004C008, so I've been in the madness of telephone activation.  I have been trying to get through (and each time waste at least 4 minutes) to someone and keep getting told that no one is available to assist me.  I thought 24/7 support would be more helpful than that, as I've been trying since midnight last night and have made at least 10-15 attempts.  I REFUSE to purchase another license just because I had to reinstall it.  I suppose my only resolution is to continue wasting hours of my time reading off the same numbers to a voice automated system and then be told there's no one to assist me.  Please offer another alternative or a direct line to a real person - or- what a novel thought... PUT ME ON HOLD.  Never thought I would have asked for that.

I see from the other forum that you've managed to get through and get
    everything sorted - well done!

    Good luck!

Please move this thread to the Window 7 Genuine forum!
Unfortunately, a phone activation is the only thing that will work.
Have you tried the automatic phone automation? - or does the number you get
to put you directly onto an operator hold queue?
(where are you phoning from? - try phoning early/mid-afternoon, weekdays,
that seems to be best for most)

  • Thanks for your response. I have a thread in that forum and was also asked by a moderator to open one up here.  I'm calling from Arizona, USA and I've been trying since midnight through now (2pm MST). The number (toll free) that I'm directed to puts me through to the automated voice that walks through the phone activation (reporting the install ID in it's 9 sets of 6-digit numbers).  Then it kindly tells me that under the End User License Agreement I have exhausted all licenses... and to speak to a Customer Support Representative, to say "go on."  When I say that, it says "We are unable to assist you with product activation at this time.  Please try again...  Thank you for calling Microsoft.  Good bye." and dumps the call.  Then I have to start all over again just to get to that point and find out it keeps saying the same thing.
