Problems validating my Vista Home Premium. RRS feed

  • Question

  • The problem is as follows:

When I tried to download WinHlp32 from the Microsoft site, I had to validate my Vista Home Premium install. On validation, the activeX component told me I hadn't activated my version yet, while my system configuration tells me that I have activated my version.

Since I had some computerproblems in the past, like disfunctioning mainboard, and later on in time my harddisk crashed, I don't really feel much to just acticating my version again, because I heared that you only get like 10 chances, or something like that; and who knows what can happen in the future. (I understand some can find this a very lame excuse, but I'd rather keep my money instead of buying a second windows version).

The output of the MGA diagnostic tool is as follows:

    Diagnostic Report (1.7.0012.0):

  • Hello,

When my vista installation told me that I my Aero interface had been shutdown after a restart, I decided to activate windows (again) by phone. Since then, the problem is solved.

    Kind regards,

    A.P.

Can you tell me what error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of them message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).

    Thanks!
