I am not familiar with that printer. Printing should work easily, though using the scan capabilities will likely require going to the advanced firewall properties in OneCare to allow the ports and application to have access through the firewall.
According to this HP document,
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01669416.pdf, the printer requires UDP port 427 to be open in the firewall.
Ports and protocols tab in advanced firewall:
Add
Name - anything you want
TCP or UDP - UDP
Port Range - 427 to 427
For Connections - both
Scope - Local *(you can try Internet if it still doesn't work with local)
The document has another listing of ports for other functions of the device. You'll need to add each of these one at a time per the above, changing the Port Range for each new entry to match the list.
"The following ports are also used by your HP device and might need to be opened on your firewall configuration.
Incoming ports (UDP) are destination ports on the computer while outgoing ports (TCP) are destination ports on the
HP device.
• Incoming (UDP) ports: 137, 138, 161, 427
• Outgoing (TCP) ports: 137, 139, 427, 9100,
9220, 9500
The ports are used for the following functions:
Printing
• UDP ports: 427, 137, 161
• TCP port: 9100
Photo card upload
• UDP ports: 137, 138, 427
• TCP port: 139
Scanning
• UDP port: 427
• TCP ports: 9220, 9500
HP device status
UDP port: 161
Faxing
• UDP port: 427
• TCP port: 9220
HP device installation
UDP port: 427"
On page 12 of the HP document, it lists the following applications that also need to be allowed in the firewall on the Programs tab:
(Click add and then navigate to the listed file to add it to the allow list. Repeat for each file)
"hpqkygrp.exe, located in C:\program
files\HP\digital imaging\bin
• hpqscnvw.exe, located in C:\program
files\HP\digital imaging\bin
• hpqste08.exe, located in C:\program
files\HP\digital imaging\bin
• hpqtra08.exe, located in C:\program
files\HP\digital imaging\bin
• hpqthb08.exe, located in C:\program
files\HP\digital imaging\bin"
If all of the above fail, please contact support.
