Windows Aero/ Optional delivery Update not working

Question
-
Hi,
I am Saurabh Kumar, chartered accountant from india. Recently i have downloaded some games on my PC (with Vista Home Basic) like mario, tetrix, tank-o-box etc. from the internet and i guess just after that i am getting error messages like "You might be a victim of counterfeit software". Sometimes it says 'Windows Aero not working' and sometimes that 'Optional Update deivery not working'. Number of times i have checked over the net for its solutions but all in vain. While reviewing one of the ofered solutions to check the licence status through some diagnosis tool i got the following message.....Please suggest the solution, i am really tired of this problem now.

Hello Saurabh_ca,
Would you first, reboot your computer x2 times. Then go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click the "Validate Windows" button. If there are any problems, look to the lower left of the page for a light gray error code similar to this [0xc004c4a8]. Record this code and post it to this thread.

You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
(w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing
Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.Sunday, October 7, 2007 5:03 AMModerator -

okay so i did what you told that guy to do. when i went to the website to validate my version it said that it could not pass my version because either an unauthorized change had been made or theres software that is not capatible. i typed what you said into the command box and it said that the file name, directory, or syntax was incorrect. I opened the command prompt and typed what the windows validation website said to type... it had to do with licensing and when i did that it said "system error 1312 has occured file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" also.. my apoint.exe is apparently corrupted. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. Im on a dell inspiron 1525.Monday, August 25, 2008 12:16 AM

Hi littlegirl701,
Then your issue is not the same as the original posters. In which case I recommend creating your own thread, post a Diagnostic Report as well as a detailed description of the issue. This way I can diagnose (and provide resolution steps) tailored to your specific issue.
Thank you,
