70-515 or 70-562 (to get to EAD)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm choosing a certification, and the 70-565 PRO (EAD 3.5) seemed to me that it is very interesting, since my job covers several layers and technologies of the enterprise and it really catched my interess.

So, as I don't have any certification at all - only the practical experience of 5 years in .Net - I have to decide between:

    - 70-562: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Application Development

    - 70-515: TS: MSFT .NET Framework 4.0, Web Applications Development

At first sight the second one seems a better choise, since it is 4.0/2010. However, I was not able to find any EAD for 4.0, only for 3.5. I'm really interested in a EAD since it covers almost everything one can face on an enterprise that uses Microsoft technologies and strategies.

My doubt is not help me choose the best of these two, but which to choose that can leed me to an EAD?

This is Microsoft did not abandon the EAD certifications, which would seem to me as a silly decision, since from what I've read about this certification for 3.5, it seems appropriate and very very good one!

    Thank you all!

  • Hi,

EAD is only available for 3.5 (and 2.0)  so you need to take 70-562 if you wish to get EAD.

EAD has been dropped for 4.0 as the feedback was people did not know what it meant.

To get MCPD Web or Windows in 4.0 requires 70-516 and 70-513 (i.e. ADO.Net and WCF) so the 4.0 MCPDs are more like EAD.

I personally would get both 4.0 MCPD's (web & windows), actually same number of exams as EAD 3.5 as you do not need to take 70-536, but first line above answers your specific question.

    Good Luck,

    Ozzy Geoff
