A view to associate a record to another of the same entity

  I have a special custom contact entity that either is a vehicle or indivdual, depending on the radio button. I just got a request where they want to associate some vehicles to an individual (basically the owner)

  How may I do that.  I think the contact record sort of does that with organization, assuming both organization and contact is the same record. A contact can eb part of an organization.

  any help is appreciated. I'm working with CRM2011
