Windows 7 not genuine after motherboard change

Question
-
Hi folks,
My laptop that I purchased from the Microsoft store had a motherboard failure. I replaced it recently, which resulted in the OS telling me it's not genuine. To the best of my ability the sticker on the bottom of the laptop reads: <redacted>
From what I have read there is some type of mismatch between the OS and the MAC address on the network adapters. I need a product key so that I can continue to use my machine. I was very happy with Windows 7 up to this point but do not enjoy this frustration.

Your problem is Acer's Quality Control department.
In Acer's usual cavalier fashion, they replaced your motherboard with whatever ws on the shelf without checking the BIOS first.
As a result, you have a motherboard from a Vista Machine, which is not capable of self-activating the Windows 7 OEM_SLP Key.
Your options...
1) Complain to Acer and demand that they repair the machine properly
2) Change the Product Key to the one on your COA sticker, and activate that.
3) Both :)
You need to change the Product Key to the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the battery compartment), using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page.
You may need to activate by phone.
