Product key incorrect - Office '07 RRS feed

  • Question

  • My apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I purchased this computer about 6 months ago and just recently decided to put the product key in. I copy the key down exactly, and when I entered it I was presented with a message saying that I had entered the wrong product key.
Since, I have entered it multiple times, to make sure it wasn't an error on my part, but I still get the same message.

I am running Vista Home Basic, and the manufacturer on the certificate of authenticity is HP.

  • Apparently, you had a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 installed.  You'll need to purchase a license for Microsoft Office in order to continue the use of the program.

  • The product key affixed to your computer is valid only for Windows Vista and not any Microsoft Office products.  It appears you need to purchase a product key for Microsoft Office.

  • I went through the link about how to determine whether or not it's a trial version, and it says that the set-up on my computer isn't a trial version.

The information in that link said that if it were a trial version it would say:
    "Microsoft Office Word 07 Trial"
However, it only says "Microsoft Office Word 07"

Thanks for the help though. Anyone else know what this could be?
