Word 2016 Not Responding for simple editing operations

Question
-
Here is the exact release and license related info for the Word 2016 Traditional Chinese version I am using now.
Please refer to the previous release info in the following link for the Word 2016 I was using before full reinstallation of the Office 2016 package.
Problem Descriptions:
After some updates, don't know which specific updates, Word 2016 started to show frequent "Not Responding" messages even after I conduct some very simple editing operations for a Word Document of 504KB. At first, I thought this was some system or updates related issues. Thus, I checked <g class="gr_ gr_30 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="30" id="30">Windows</g> 10 system integrity via DISM online repairs and Online Repairs of Office 2016. The problem persisted.
Eventually, I uninstalled Office 2016 entirely and installed a fresh copy of Office 2016 via the online facility which is the version listed at the beginning of this post. The problems are still present.
Findings from the Experiments:
The same document can open in Word 2010 and 2013 for editing perfectly without any such "Not Responding" issues.
Given the experiences learned from the link above, I tried to save the document in .doc format instead of the .docx format to see if the problems go away. Surprises! The "Not Responding" sluggish delays are no longer present!
Questions:
There are certain format changes between a document saved in .doc and .docx formats. Thus, avoiding problems by always saving in .doc is not really a long term option. I'd like to find out whether or not there are any fixes, or any specific release which I can use not carrying this "Not Responding" behaviors?
