Slows to a stop

  Hi, I run off  a Macbook Pro ... I downloaded Expression Media 2 ONLY because psd files stop showing up in Expression Media. I went looking for an update and found "2" so I down loaded it. Now my problem is at first its fast, but then it slows to a stop and never finishes. I load all images in to the catalog from DVDs.   Any suggestions?
