I am using the "microsoft fix it centre" and this offered to make my system quicker by removing add-on's RRS feed

  • Question

  • This has caused some problems instead and you cannot seem to contact as too often is the case - Microsoft... They say "contact" at the bottom of each page but when you go to this section, it is not for technical support - what is the point of that? They should at least stipulate that, before you bother going through all the various pages!

How do I undo an action this programme has committed please, as easily and efficiently as is at all possible?

  • I have the same problem when I open IE8 it mentions that there is a conflict with or incompatebility with add on weather chanel and needs to stop this add on to open IE8 and since Fix it found this problen and sugested this I must manually mark "open anyway with add ons not compatible" each time I log onto IE8, by the way, this add on works nicely when I open this way!

  • Hi omarrix and Sebastian White,

Thanks for your posted, Could you please tell me which one of troubleshooter are you run?

Do you have run this "Fix Internet Explorer add-on problems when IE hangs or freezes"? Location at  http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie_freezes_or_crashes/en-us.

  • Yan & those others who kindly responded to my post but I received no alerts for these? However, I have replied on the last post but none of the responses answered my questions and some posed more...!

Is there a way of contacting someone/member directly please? If people respond perhaps they could let me know or contact me directly on seanwhite06@aol.com

I am extremely frustrated with this programme and lack of appropriate support!!!

*The main problem I am currently experiencing is when I use or play any sort of video for any period of time. For instance, when I use the BBC Iplayer, it usually faulters a couple of times within the period of an hour and I lose internet connection completely, any advice please?

Also, is there any way of downloading these programmes to disc to watch later please perhaps?

*It seems a good idea on principle this "Fix It Centre" but it offers me things, functions - I really do not understand and also arrives at results I do not know how to, or if I should act on!

For instance, I did a scan for improving your internet connection or surfing and it gives me a load of results for scans I have run previously apparently - some of which, "failed," but it does not guide me to as a solution to these failed options, the consequences and repercussion of these? Why these failed and what to do about these..

It also stated that I have many "add-ons," so what? Do I negate these, is it safe to do so? What repercussions are there if I did?

As I said, it seems a good idea on principle, but the practicalities of this programme seem very, very limited.

***I also selected a "alert me" last time I posted on here - months ago, but I had no reply? Or more probably I think the alert, did not actually work and notify me of any response!

It just seems ridiculously difficult to get anything like a meaningful response from any medium of Microsoft, when you require some assistance. You go through the various options, only to get there, and then for it not to be a direct means of contacting microsoft or there is some charge involved. It is just not on, if Microsoft "believes" in these programmes, then it should back them up, via mean of appropriate and relevent support. Without some kind of "direct" support, I feel you are to a large extent just thrashing around, without justification and direction too much of the time.

PS: I also do not understand the need to have to log-in so frequently and for what reason at times, when you are just using the Microsoft On-Line prog! I had to do this 3 times this morning...

  • Yan - I received absolutely no "alert" in regard to a response... none at all?

Not receiving error messages in particular, the confusion lies in just how to use the programme! Also, it does not fit my screen correctly, its too big.

Please see the post I have just placed, in regard continuing confusion with this add-on function and the programme itself, in general?
