re-installed windows XP Pro MSE keeps saying windows failed WGA test but installation passes the online checker and download test. Have done the 'all users thing' on dat file

Question
-
Hi,
Title explains it all. I have applied the fix/answer given on exact same problem in another thread which relates to setting permissions on the MSE dat file to 'all users' (security tab on advanced settings to reveal). MSE is still misreading the WGA result.
Actually I added 'Everyone' without the quotes and checked full control, as per the instructions ibn the thread. In that thread it said the problem was arising from a recent security patch from Microsoft.
(when I go online from MSE (to 'fix' the problem) I just end up at the MSE download page, been to the Microsoft checker page and checks out Win XP pro as geniune and Micosoft Office also., no probs)
Is there another fix ?
Thanks.

What was your previous Anti-Virus? - what other AV's have been installed?
Are you using the Windows Firewall, or something else?
What happens if you attempt validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate using Internet Explorer?
