Office activation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased an HP mini with XP and  3 trial versions of MS Office loaded (including Home/Student).  To activate, I purchased (from Amazon) a license for Home/Student.  When I attempt to enter the product code, I am told it is an incorrect code.  I went to MS website and entered code (several times and all possible ways) and am told that it is not a valid code.   HP says MS problem, Amazon says return.  Any ideas?

  • Hello Bruce Bixby,

In order to recieve the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click the "Continue" button, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into your post.

Also, could you provide a link to the license for Office that you purchased on Amazon?

  • Hello Bruse,

    In addition to Dan's post,

What happens if you uninstall the trial version of Home/Student (that came with the computer) and then install the Office Software that came with the Home/Student key you got from Amazon?

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
