Win7 remote connection to WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • none of the related topics seem relevant.
1/ can connect  as normal through the Win XP virtual machine.
2/ problem with connect to computer (or WHS), the preamble password process OK but when this is accepted
things just hang trying to make the connection.
Think I'm missing something here, AQny ideas welcome :)
    Thanks

Your message is a bit cryptic.  To clarify:  Are you saying you're trying to connect to your server through the Remote Access website and you are able to do it from an XP install, but not 7?  If that's the case, what version/build of 7 are you using?  What web browser are you using to get to the Remote Access website?  (And if my clarification is wrong, please be more descriptive about your problem.)

  • Thanks for your response,
Your understanding is correct, the following may help fill in the gaps :)
I can connect remotely to the WHS using my normal XP install and also using the virtual XP imbedded in Win 7.
The hangup occurs at the end of the connection process using native Win 7.
Win 7 version is professional, browser is IE8

  • Which kind of connection - console, remote access website, shares?
You may also check your system according the FAQ How to Troubleshoot Network Connection Problems with Windows Home Server especially in the direction of wrong DNS name resolution assignments.

  • hi Olaf
oonnections made from native and virtual WinXP console, remote access website, shares ie full set
This suggests to me that networking is set up OK.
I say this on the assumption that the Virtual XP mode running inside Win 7 is a sort of emulation which will utilise Win 7 resources and settings.
    Would this assumption be correct?

    Connecting with Win7
    Login OK
All tab work OK, Shares can be acessed and files opened.
Computer WS can be selected and the default windows displayed and accepted (2) the process hangs "conneting to the PC"
Only way out via Task Manager / End Task.
