Asked by:
Cannot Drag and Drop Pictures Into Sharepoint

Question
-
Not sure if this is the correct forum to post in...please let me knoe if this should go someplace else.
All I do is upload pictures to my Yahoo Small Business webhost and then insert them into eBay auction templates for items that I'm selling.
To do this, I've used Frontpage 2002 for the last 4 years on a computer with Vista. One of the nicest things I could do was drag and drop pictures from my webhost using MSIE8 right into Frontpage...saved a lot of time!!!
SOOO, I've installed Sharepoint 2007 and still can't drag and drop from the webhost.
I just bought a new PC with Windows 7, re-installed Frontpage, but can no longer drop pix from MSIE8.
I've updated Windows and Frontpage and have them as current as possible as far as I can tell.
I even upgraded to MSIE9...still can't drop pix into Frontpage.I'm thinking this is not an issue with Frontpage or Sharepoint, but have no idea how to fix this.
Any suggestions???
thnx

I'm afraid you're in the wrong forum. Are you sure you installed "SharePoint"? You may have installed "SharePoint Designer". There's a HUGE difference between the two.
I'm not sure about the exact problem you're having, but I suspect it might be a browser/OS issue.

As you can't install a SharePoint product on Windows 7 without using a less-known trick, it seems likely that this is the case.
Please note that SharePoint Designer 2007 is a tool for working with SharePoint sites. It does not have many of the functions of the earlier FrontPage products - in particular you can't create web sites with it (unless you are working with a SharePoint installation).

You are correct, I've installed SharePoint Designer and it seems to function properly as far as I can tell.
It sure seems to have way more functions than I have a need for, I was just trying out a program that I knew would be compatible with Windows 7.
I'm coming to the conclusion that it must be a browser/OS issue.

I'll move this to the Off-Topic forum as SPD 2007 issues without a SharePoint system involved are out of place in a SharePoint forum.
If you want to do web things with a follow-up program to FrontPage without having a SharePoint system you should use (Microsoft) Expression Web.
The functions of FrontPage were split into two in 2007 with the SharePoint functions going to SharePoint Designer 2007 and the non-SharePoint functions going to Expression Web.
