Large Folder Sync Not Happening RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a folder on two different computers (XP SP3 and Vista Premium SP1) that is already synced via RoboCopy.  I added the folder on both boxes to my mesh.  I went in and turned off syncing with the live desktop.  Both boxes had the MOE.exe process running heavily for a while (10 minutes or so).  Then the systems quieted back down, but I show no syncing going on.  I even modified a text file at the root on one and it never synced.  The directories have about 2GB of data in 13,000 files and 980 folders, but they are identical already.

Both folders are actually root drives because they are mounted TrueCrypt volumes, but those behave like local disks.

The computers both happen to be on the same LAN.

  • When you first made the folder a Live Mesh folder, before you took it off of the Live Desktop sync list, did the folders sync to the Live Desktop at all?

  • Hi Brad,

I think some digging through logs will be required for this one.  Please open a bug in Connect.

How long did you wait after adding the folder to your mesh before telling it to synchronize on the other machine?  (Or did you do it in a single swoop using the default location with the 'Show synchronization options' expanded?)  This won't explain why files may not be sync'ing, but if you choose to synchronize a folder that is already in sync on a machine, and the client on the first machine hasn't completed calculating hashes, you may see some spurious conflicts in the companion pane.

    Thanks,
    Richard

  • It was only a minute or so between creating the two connections.  After it seemed like it wasn't doing anything I went in with the browser and turned off the live desktop sync (since you can't do that on the client for some reason).

I have submitted my logs as a bug if you need to see them (feedback ID 356823).

  • I'm still waiting to be accepted through Connect (even though Mesh.com has given me access and I have the client installed on 4 machines), and don't have access to the resolution.

Could you share here? I've got this issue in a BIG way, and would like to fix it with Mesh rather than going back to Foldershare if possible.

    Thanks!
