I want to exlude entire folders when syncing My Documents Folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to sync some folders that are in MY Documents folder and exclude other folders.  My pen drive is 8GB and the MY Documents folder is 27GB. There are also many folders placed in the MY Documents folder from various software companies I installed such as Nero, Sony, Acid Pro etc that I am not interested in backing up.  To create a separate pair for each folder I DO want to back up is very times consuming.  Is there a solution to this?

Thanks for your help.  I am using SyncToy 2.1 and Windows XP pro.

  • Hi -

After you create the folder pair - when you edit the folder pair, you it will bring up the tree of the root folder pair from which you can then deselect the folders that you do not want to synchronize.

    Thanks

  • Thank you for your reply Deepa.   I ran so many internet searches and couldn't find anything telling me that this was even an option so I found your reply very helpful.   I went into: "Change Options" and then saw: "Select Subfolders" and from there deselected the unwanted folders.

    Much appreciated,
    Annette
