MSN Portfolio Manager Off-Line For Three Days Now RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft Portfolio has been down since Friday with no more info than a box saying they are having difficulties with the newtwork.  Anyone know what's going on?

  • Same problem here. I'm not using Microsoft Money at all, so the whole LiveID thing doesn't seem to apply. Is MSN Money Portfolio Manager gone forever with no notice?

  • We are not talking about MS Money, we mean MSN Portfolio Manager(http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/portfolio-manager/portfolio.aspx), please take a look at it.

  • Same here. I believe it's been off-line since Sat 2/5. Error message: "Portfolio Manager is experience a problem with the network or online service. Your data cannot be sent or retrieved...."

Same here.  Have tried everything to resolve.  Even re-installed silverlight.  Tried various browsers.

If that is what PaulLH is talking about, he should edit the subject of the thread. We'll give him a little while to come back.

I don't have the information that you want.

I suggest that you search  you computer for "C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\MoneyToolbox\UserData"   The filename would be "My Portfolio.mny" or "My Portfolio*.mny" where the asterisk is a number. Unfortunately, that file would be over a year old. But it may be useful later.

If you have such a file, you could download Microsoft Money Sunset Deluxe, copy the file to your Documents folder, and open that file with Money.  Then download as much as you can, as soon as you can, from your broker to supply some of the missing data. Search for PocketSense to read about a tool that may help get data from your broker(s) into Money. Or maybe your broker provides web download of OFX or QFX files. In that case, you could File->Open such files directly into Microsoft Money Sunset Deluxe. How far back the data will go back will vary with the broker. You are going to have gaps, which you could fill in manually with old statements.

You would need your LiveID credentials to get into the file. Then once inside the file, you would want to remove your LiveID within that file in Microsoft Money.

When things work later, you could try keeping up both methods for a while to have redundancy.

Quite right & I've deleted my previous reply (since the OP changed the title of his post & therefore this thread).

There have been several thread about this in the IE (Consumer) forums recently:  http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Search/en-US/?query=msn%20money%20portfolio&rq=meta:Search.MSForums.ForumID(1d8435be-8b72-4ee6-bf10-02df3ff6c4a2)+site:microsoft.com&rn=Internet+Explorer+Forum

Most users have reported that everything's OK now although some Canadians report that they're still having problems, eh? <wink>
