net book shutting down RRS feed

    Hi I have a new Eee PC 1201n running windows 7 home premium. It is 3-4 weeks old so ithought i would run the one care saftey scanner.

    I have installed and set it running fine and no problems so far. As this can take several hours I just leave the net book but when I check on the progress after 30 mins - 1 hour the net book has shut down, when i switch it on it says "resuming windows" i log back in and the scanner resumes.

    It appears that when there is no activity on the net book it decides to shut down possibly to save the battery???

     

    I have tried to google this but cannot find any relevant info

    This is normal in portable computers and it is to conserve battery power. The time interval when the computer goes into standby, hibernation, and sleep can be adjusted in Power Options.
