"Copy of Windows 7 not genuine" (blocked key, bought from Windows Warehouse.com) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows Warehouse, a UK business at an educators' discount:

(http://www.windows-warehouse.com/)  After getting the error message & trying some of the other ideas, I called & was told it was not genuine. I really think it is genuine, but the report is below. Did I get scammed?

  • Sorry to say it but you got scammed, that PID with -232- is consistant with a MSDN key. Insist on a refund, report it.

    Please read these stickies.

    Blocked keys

    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285

And, if you are in the UK and you purchased a key packaged with media (high quality conterfiet) read this sticky, If you use the second sticky to resolve the issue please consider posting your experience in this forum.

  • Thank you very much. This "retailer" is going to great lengths with this scam. They actually sent me a replacement key, and I thought well, maybe these guys are legit after all, but as soon as I pasted it in and tried it, it came up not genuine. I emailed them again and insisted on either a genuine replacement key or a full refund. I will be very interested to see how they reply this time.

  • This is getting weirder and weirder! The second key they sent me actually worked this time when I tried to validate it. Of course, I suppose it's possible that it's just another MSDN key, but if it was, it wouldn't validate, would it? I sent them back a note saying I would be a happy customer if the key is indeed, genuine and not MSDN. We'll see how they respond.

  • If it's a MSDN Subscriber product key, sooner or later it will be blocked and become "non-genuine" even if it activates and passes the validation test today.

As Carey says - sooner or later, the Key you have been 'sold' WILL be blocked - demand the refund NOW!

  • I sent them another email and demanded a full refund. Oddly, enough I haven't received the prompt reply that I did before (sarcasm). Thanks very much for all the help! At least this website is exposed now.

  • Hello wordshootist,

Unlike the programs Microsoft has in place for XP, Office, and Vista, there is no complimentary replacement program to protect Windows 7 buyers from scam artists (except in the UK), so do everything in your power to get your refund NOW.  And that goes double for buyers who bought just a product key and not a full packed product--there has never been a Microsoft program to protect those buyers.

Just so you know, the only legitimate source for the retail electonic purchase and distribution (meaning the purchase is made on a web site, the product key is emailed or displayed to you, and you are provided a link to download the product) of Microsoft software is Microsoft itself thru its online digital distributor partner, Digital River.  ANY OTHER source of retail electronic sales is nongenuine, because the product keys are either nongenuine or abused.

  • Hi Dan,

I am trying to get confirmation, one way or the other, on if Windows 7 is part of the complimentary offer or not. (I'm also pushing to get a nice Complimentary Offer site like the UK has or at the very least, have the FAQs updated)

  • Hi there,

bought a copy of Windows 7 Professional from Windows Warehouse on June 28. My activation code was declared blocked even during my grace period.

Asked for a refund but Windows Warehouse answered that they are currently processing a backlog of request that is they are not goung to give me back my money.

My MGADiag report is listed below.

Can anyone give me a hint on what to do now? Is there the chance of any kind of class action against Windows Warehouse?

    Thanks everyone.
