system restore does not complete when I run it due to unknown error

  system restore has several restore points but when I run one it tells me no files changed due to an error and then I undo the restore point even tho no changes where made since it ask me to do just that it seems. Then I get the same error. Question is can I find out why this restore point never works or what to do for it to work
