Firewall blocking "allowed" programs RRS feed

  • Lat week, my firewall started to block DigiGuide and FeedDemon, even though I have been using OneCare, DigiGuide and FeedDemon for several years. If I temporarily turn off the firewall, both apps work fine. I have deleted both apps from the allowed list and let OneCare re-add them but without any change. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

    Neither app has been updated for some time. Other apps may be affected but I haven't tested everything.

     

    I have sort of fixed the problem now: I clicked on "Restore Defaults" in the firewall's advanced settings page and rebooted. I have to re-approve everything, but DigiGuide and FeedDemon are now fine.

     

    A bit of a heavy-handed solution, I know, but a success is a success.

  • Did either or both applications recently update? Are any other program being blocked as well?

  • Thanks for reporting the solution. It sounds like the allow/block list may have been corrupt. It may have been heavy handed, but the hammer solution would have been a reinstall, which you avoided. ;-)
