Unsolicited Call from Microsoft Service Center RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just got a call from someone claiming to be from the Microsoft Service Center.  They did not give any other identifying information or proof that they were who they said they were, despite my asking.  They were asking me some questions about what keys I have on the keyboard and how old I was.  When I responded 25-65, they swore at me and called me some unimaginative insults.

Can you please confirm that this is not standard Microsoft operating procedure?

  • Microsoft will NEVER cold call you.  They have no idea what your computer is doing.  Never give anyone access to your machine.
