windows HPC vs windows 2008 R2 server - performance as single node RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am working in a gas and oil company and we need to run some special softwares in some powerful workstations. I'm looking for some solutions about environment to  run these programs that are not programmed in parallel and can't run on cluster but need great system performance.

In your mind does windows HPC give me more performance than windows 2008 R2 or even windows 7 when working as single node. If it is possible please guide me to find some benchmark for this solution.

    Thanks

  • Hi Hamid,

Windows HPC Pack is a thin layer that you can install on top of Windows Server 2008 R2, so there's really not performance gain on single machine.
