I installed the HMSW on my lenovo desktop ideacentre k220 and the drive is acting like it is empty. device manager says it is working and I downloaded the latest firmware from lenovo site....and it tells me to enter CD in the drive even though there is one it it...whether it is a DVD or CD.Saturday, January 2, 2010 11:01 PM

I finally gave in and bought a new drive to see. It was intresting since the one that came with the machine was showing as the X drive and the new one is showing as the E drive. but the new one worked. So I guess the install was its last stand. I may try it on a different box to see what happens

This forum is for Windows Home Server. If your question is related to WHS, can you please clarify? If it's not, you should post your question in the Lenovo forums.Sunday, January 3, 2010 1:25 AMModerator -

Are you saying you installed the software using a DVD drive, then after installing the software, you put the same DVD in the same DVD drive and it doesn't see the DVD? If that's the case, have you tried replacing the DVD drive and check the power and data cables to make sure they are secure?- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Thursday, January 7, 2010 12:25 AM

yes, I have a new lenovo desktop and installed the home server software on the desktop using the drive. After the install, the drive says it is properly working but it does not recognize anything I put in it whether it is a CD, DVD or even the home server software. I updated the firmware from lenovo but it still does not recognize anything I put in it. I am at a lossMonday, January 4, 2010 12:06 PM

Will it boot from a bootable CD/DVD (for example, the Windows Home server installation media you used)? If not, you have a hardware/firmware problem (Perhaps you installed the wrong firmware, perhaps the drive just picked this moment to die?).
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Thursday, January 7, 2010 12:25 AM
