more than 5 GB - what happens?

Question

what happens if you chose to add a folder to livemesh that has, oh i dunno, let's say 20Gig of photos... would it work and just not be able to replicate to the LIVEDESKTOP?: or would the fact that there's greater than 5 GIG result in only 5 gig being replicated... thoughts?Monday, June 2, 2008 4:06 AM

Up to 5GB of data will make it up to te LiveDesktop, however all 20GB will replicate P2P to your other devices.

Hi RaiderClay,
As Stephen indicates, the ability to have folders sync only P2P (not with the Live Desktop) is a feature that is coming, but isn't implemented yet.

quick follow-up... could you set up a folder so that it does not replicate to the LiveDesktop? only to P2P to your other device?Monday, June 2, 2008 12:10 PM

I'm pretty sure that this is a feature request - the ability to not sync to LD, but only to the peers. At this point that isn't an option.

This is stunning news and it's true! My Mesh is broken. It says I am at 100% of quota when it's actually about 5% (bug submitted ages ago), so I have not been using it at all.
But, when I read this, I tried it and cool! I added a file to my desktop Mesh folder and it shows up fine on my other devices and as a grayed out entry on my LiveDesktop. I can live with that. Not perfect but certainly more useful than having nothing!
Thanks!!Friday, June 13, 2008 1:06 AM -
That's an interesting development, Susan. So, they haven't resolved your bug yet, eh?

Nope - bug ID 344091 - doesn't look like anyone has looked at it. But, Ben told me a couple of weeks ago that they were close to a fix. I'm hoping... hoping... hoping... :)Friday, June 13, 2008 1:07 PM

Hi Susan,
I'm sorry if you've received the impression that no one is looking into this bug. A number of team members are working on it, and it's a high priority bug for us, but I'm afraid we haven't been able to resolve it yet.
You've been extraordinarily patient with us, and we really appreciate that. Please know that we will get this bug fixed as soon as we possibly can, and we'll make sure to let you know when it's resolved.

Oh! I was going off what is showing in my Connect Dashboard. I should have said that my Connect Dashboard shows no action but Ben says... :) I'm sorry.
Turns out I can still use it the p2p bits and that's my main desire now so I'm cool. Sorry for sounding so mean!
