Can I share Local Data Groups in Outlook with other users? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In outlook I want to share the Local Data Groups I have created to download CRM Contacts with other users.  Is there ANY way of doing this?

I have noticed the query is saved in the UserQueryBase and I could create new ones here based on the xml, but i really don't want to do that.

Is there an offical way of sharing Outlook Local Data Groups?  I DO NOT want to create a new Local data group for 100 people in my organisation

    Please help

  • If you are talking about the Local Data Group filter rule, then the answer is yes.

You have to create a new rule for each of the users, I had done it thhrough a unsupported way of inserting into the database directly. I would suggest that you look into the CRM SDK and do it through its web services.

  • TD -

I understand (and share) the need for a deployment tool - we built one internally, but it was for a specific purpose/customer - hopefully someone will be able to share a tool that will help roll out / standardize these and other client-side settings in an enterprise.

But to answer your question, there currently isn't an official tool available that will deploy the local data group rules to other users in the organization.
