Default Profiles in PowerShell RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to find some information about what the default profiles are when none exist or you use the -noprofile switch. we have a script that calls out another powershell.exe via start-process but the font is larger on that launch. I found the registry values in hkcu\console\%systemRoot%_system32_windowspowershell_v1.0_powershell.exe. On some of my systems i have a dword for FontSize and others i have nothing. my normal powershell window that i launch has a size of 12 but when i do start-process powershell.exe -ArgumentList "-noprofile" it spawns a window with a size of 16.

    any info would be helpful

  • The registry settings have nothing to do with profiles.

To find all profiles do the following.

     $profile|select *

Search for blogs that describe how profiles work and are used.

The registry settings are set by the user using the system menu on the PS console Window.
