migrate data from one to another crm server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have lots of data that I need to copy from one to another crm server. However, I have different business units and users there. Is there some less painful way to do this?

And DMM can't help me since it's big load of data that should be migrated.

  • Sure, the choice of approach will depend on your resources, skills and budget:

    1. Develop a custom migration tool - the SDK provides lots of methods for creating records so you could develop a simple .NET tool
    2. Use SQL Server Integration Services - if you are familiar with SSIS, this could be an option
    3. Use a third-party product - there are lots of ISVs with data migration/integration tools for CRM. Check http://customery.co.uk/crm-add-ons for a few ideas.

    Hope this helps.

  • Do you have access to Scribe? They offer a 60 day data migration license, but you could probably sign up for a 30 day trial and get the data migrated before the trial runs out.

  • For SSIS check CozyRoc SSIS+ library here. This is the leading third-party library for SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and it includes adapters for Dynamics CRM. All three deployment types are supported: Premise, Hosted and Live.
