Cannot run updates after upgrading from XP Home to XP Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I have a brand new (arrived today) Dell Optiplex 755 that came with WinXP Home.  Our university has a volume license which allows us to put any version of Windows on any university owned machine, so as a SOP I upgrade all new machines to WinXP Pro.

The upgrade to WinXP Pro went fine.

I was even able to install the Microsoft Update (replacing Windows Update) without problems.

However, now when I try to run Microsoft Updates (it lists 95 critical and 10 'optional'), I get the message:

Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed

That is now my question - can someone help me get this machine to run the updates like it should?

I ran the http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en as instructed, where it passed all of the diagnotistics.  I then ran the http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , where it gave me the following output:
