Dynamic Disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently changed my OS from Windows 7 to Linux Ubuntu to try it.  Not liking it, I then changed back to Windows 7.  I have a Western Digital 1 tb external hard drive, which when I reconnected would not work as Linux had made changes to the drive so that the software from Western Digital did not recognise the drive.  After numerous e mails with Western Digital, I managed to recover the data off the disk, and then formatted it, using the disk management utility within Windows 7, thus creating a an empty disk.  The disc management utility partitioned the drive, but left some unused space on the drive.  I then tried to increase the volume of the formated drive, but was given a warning that it would change the drive from simple to dynamic.  Is there a problem with dynamic drives?
