How do I upgrade to MCITP: Database Administrator 2008 if I have incomplete MCITP SQL 2005 Database Administrator certification? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I completed only two exams towards SQL 2005 MCITP DBA cerfication.

    I completed:

443 Design a Database Server Infrastructure by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005

431 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Implementation and Maintenance

I believe I was only missing #444 Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Adminstration Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Which exams must I take to upgrade from 2005 to 2008 and gain MCITP Database Administrator 2008?   Will I have to take all of the SQL 2008 exams to gain the MCITP?

  • Since 70-444 retires tomorrow, no.  You'll have to take all of the required SQL 2008 MCITP exams for whichever MCITP designation you're working towards.

  • The exam I didn't yet take expires tomorrow (6/30/11) would I still be able to take that after 6/30/11?

But I think I found a webpage with an answer though I am seeing all sorts of conflicting info on the web.  http://www.microsoft.com/learning/career/en/us/jobs/data-admin.aspx#certification-paths

So for SQL 2008 MCITP it looks like it now only requires 2 exams depending on what type of MCITP you want.  I want Database Administrator 2008 which according to the following website (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx#tab2) means I would need to take two exams 70-432 & 70-450.     If this is true then either way I need to take 2 exams to get MCITP at which point I would prefer to just take 2 2008 exams.

That is correct.  you'll need to take 2 exams to get this certification

  • You'll have to complete the exams you didn't take, and then take 70-453.  Or...study and take the exams for 70-450, 451 and 452 (all on SQL 2008)
