Windows Home Server - Low Disk Space Warning, Drive Extender RRS feed

  • Question

  • Problem: "Error Copying file or Folder. Cannot copy: There is not enough free disk space."
The low disk space popup warning presents itself in system tray. WHS Console shows "Network Critical." "Not enough free space on some hard drives." "The majority of free space for your server storage is available on only one hard drive. Folder Duplication requires sufficient free space on multiple hard drive to duplicate your files. to fix this issue, add another hard drive to your server storage or delete some files from your shared folders."

Problem manifests itself when I attempt to copy any large file (GBs) from my personal computer to the server over my Gigabit network. (both pushing and pulling)

    Drive space status:
    WHS console shows:
    Total size 2.73 TB
    Free space 869.84 GB
    Shared folders 397GB 14%
    PC Backups 14KB
    System 1.5TB 54%
    Free Space 870GB 31%
    Disc Managment shows:
    Disk 0 SYS (C) 20GBcapacity 12GBfree || DATA (D) 1377.25GBcapacity 869.84free
    Disk 1 DATA 1397.25capacity 868.93free

    Steps I've already tried:
    rebooting.
weeks have passed with this problem so its not a "copy to quickly for the drives to balance" issue.
i have read other posts and threads but i haven't found a solution.
I don't have any backups, or duplication turned on.

Anyone have any help for me? Big thanks.

Your SYSTEM is way off.  It should be about 20 GB, not 1.5 TB.  Did you copy your data to the server through the UNC path (or some other method)?  Did you use some application to copy (and, if so, which one)?  Have you installed any add-ins or applications on your server?
