Cannot validate XP Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Bought (from Microsoft) and installed WGA Kit for Windows XP Pro SP2 but it will not validate either via validation process or via Beta web page arrived at from update.microsoft.com. So I can't get SP3 and lots of other security updates.

I ran some tool or other dealing with WGA and Windows validation and it passed.

Here's the poop from the WGA Diagnostic Tool, which has the "Resolve" button grayed out:

Don't know if it matters, but I'm traveling in South America at the moment and am connecting from Montevideo, Uruguay. XP Pro SP2 CD was shipped to my US address from Microsoft in Grove City, OH. I installed XP Pro SP2 and came down here almost immediately afterwards.

I had another installation of XP on my laptop and it ran with no problems. Now I'm sure I'll never give Microsoft another penny in my life.

    100% dissatisfied Windows purchaser.

  • Your MGA report shows that you have not activated Windows XP.

If you cannot successfully activate via the internet, then choose the alternative option to "activate by phone".

How to activate Windows XP by phone

To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows by phone, follow these steps:

    1. Click 'Start', point to 'All Programs', point to 'Accessories', point to 'System Tools', and then click 'Activate Windows'.
      Or,
click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area (aka system Tray).
      Or,
clicking Start button, then Run, and type in "oobe/msoobe /a", then press the Enter key located on your keyboard.

    2. Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now.

    3. Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and then click Next.

    4. When activation is completed and you receive the following message, click OK.
