Xbox 360 and WHS 2011

Question
-
I've just installed WHS 2011 and am in the process of getting all of the media sharing stuff setup. I'm having some trouble getting my xbox 360 to see the WHS. To start I am trying to view my WHS content go going to the "My Xbox" tab and then browsing to pictures, music, or video. At the moment when I go to those items I can see with windows 7 machines on my network but not my WHS.
On the WHS:
The guest account is currently inactive.
Under Server settings:
Media server is: ON
Media Library Name: Home Server the customize button has music, pictures, recorded tv, and videos as included.
I do not have a home group active or setup.
Obviously I have a few different options to tweak in order to get this to work. I'm thinking perhaps enabling the guest account or setting up a homegroup could yield some success.
Has anyone had this trouble and if so how did you iron it out? I'm grabbing an extra router from the office tonight to make sure it isn't my AT&T 2Wire box.
I've done the google search on my problem but most of what I find is circa 2007 and WHS v1.
Thanks,
Tim

I have an update!
It turns out my 2Wire 3800 router courtesy of AT&T was the culprit. I snagged an old Linksys router from the parts bin at the office and after plugging everything in the server appeared as a valid streaming source on the Xbox.
So for those coming after me. I've had success with the guest account being inactive and no home group setup. The permanent solution is to DMZ the 2Wire router to a 3rd party router and run your network that way.
I appreciate the replies.

I use the Xbox 360 as a movie player, so I have a similar setup as you Tim.
The WHS is not connected to a Homegroup. On ocassion, the Xbox can't see any movies or photos but that usually fixes itself somehow.
I don't know if that helps or is the solution, but logging in to an account on Xbox seems to help. Going straight to Videos on the Xbox without logging in may or may not work. One thing to try is to rebuild the Media Players Database on the server, it might help.
There are threads here in this forum how to do that./Christian
WHS 2011 RTM coming alive, taking over WHS v.1 duties.Tuesday, May 24, 2011 8:04 PM -
I am eagerily awaiting my copy of WHS2011 that I ordered yesterday. My question is can I use the Media Extender Capabilities of the XBOX 360 directly with WHS2011 or is it only through a shared folder method that I can stream media to the XBOX?
I will have the rest of my hardware tomorrow so I can assemble and hopefully have the OS next week.

I haven't tried that specifically yet, but if WHS 2011 is like V1 then don't hold your breath. If you have a 2nd PC lying around you could install Win 7 on that and stream your data through it's Media Extender if you want that pretty front screen. That being said I'll give it a try tonight.
If you are simply wanting to get videos, music, and photos from your WHS to your Xbox that is possible. The video, photos, and music directories can be shared on the network and (network permitting) your Xbox should see them. Finding what you want to watch is akin to browsing directory trees on your computer. It isn't pretty but it is effective and lots of file types are supported.

No. WHS 2011 does not have Media Center so there is nothing to extend to the 360.or is it only through a shared folder method that I can stream media to the XBOX?
Correct.
