New Systems Administrator Looking for PLenty of Advice

Question
-
I have been on the job for about a month now and I would like to take my learning to the next level. My first goal thus far is to get the MCSA. My plan is to tackle the Win 7 Config test and then move on to the dual Networking Exams, and finish with an elective (Undecided between: Exchange Server 2007, Security, or XP Professional).
Why am I here? I would really appreciate any and all advice on exam preparation, being a system administrator, anything really on starting my career in Information Technology.
A little about the environment I work at: I work in a very, very, visible work site. Meaning I work with all the executives, chairpersons, CEO, CFO, etc. There are some administrative support personnel but not much. So obviously my people skills are full tilt. That is the reason why I was hired but I do have an Associates in Networking. I want to be the best at my job but feel that I really lacking on the tech side even with my education.
Thanks in advance.

MCSA is for Windows Server 2003.
For newer technologies, such as Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Windows Server 2008, or Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) is the appropriate certification to pursue.

Looks like I have already made a mistake in terms of certifying choices. Appears I need to go MCITP. Am I correct?Monday, May 16, 2011 4:49 AM

Ok I'm trying to figure out the MCITP paths and what exactly is required to earn the MCITP. How many exams are required? By the way I have no certifications at present.Monday, May 16, 2011 5:04 AM
