Problem upgrading windows 7 home premium os to windows home server 2011 RRS feed

I just got a new Dell XPS 8300 Server running Windows 7 Home Premium OS.  I’m a MSDN subscriber so wanted to download and install Windows Home Server 2011 instead.  I’ve pulled down the .iso file for the server and decompressed it with Winzip but nothing happens when I click on the install.exe.  Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong ?  Documentation on WHS is pretty skimpy.

  • You can't do what you are trying to do - there is no upgrade path from Windows 7 (Desktop OS) to WHS2011 (Server). You need to create a bootable DVD or USB stick from your .iso and install from new, totally wiping your W7 installation.
