CRM 2011 online plugin to attach a report as a pdf to an email RRS feed

  • Question

  • Would it be possible to render a report from within a plugin to attach to an email in CRM 2011 online?

  • Ok, then I think it might be more problematic. I don't know the url for that webservice either or even if it is available accessible. The rest of reporting services is not available so I would not be surprised if this part wasn't either. Perhaps it is possible to use the Report viewer in CRM somehow to do it. The data can be accessed so it should be possible somehow. Try to see if you can reverese engineer the url that is used when exporting to pdf.

  • Yes it is very possible. I have done it myself. You have to work with the SQL RS webservices which are a bit trickier than the more clean cut ones in CRM. If you are not running CRM Online, I would, however, suggest creating a workflow activity instead as that would increase the flexibility of the solution and you can change the contents of the email a lot easier.

  • Thanks for the response Gustaf. This is for CRM 2011 online, so I'm not understanding how I would get the webservice for the report server. What would I enter for the url?

    Thanks.

  • I probably would have helped if I had stated my actual issue in the first place. Thanks again Gustaf, I'll try and head down that path.
