Error with CRM Reporting Service RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

    Anytime we're trying to use Report on CRM, we always get this message (I printed it out at the very bottom).

    We've been doing researches... and we came to the conclusion to uninstall and install the Reporting Service..

    My question is, what is the safest and easiest way to uninstall and install the Reporting Service on our CRM server?

    Thank you in advanced!

    -Elizabeth K.

    Here's the error message:

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

  • The error messages you posted are general ASP .Net messages. If you try accessing the reports from a browser on the report server itself you should see a more useful error message.

    If you want to reinstall reporting services, you can uninstall and reinstall reporting services as per the SQL server documentation, then you have to publish the CRM reports using PublishReports.exe as described in step 3 here: http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/crm/using/deploy/changesrs.mspx
